Terms of service

Welcome to Cobb Custom Engraving. By accessing our website or purchasing our services, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions.

1. Accuracy of Customization

We are dedicated to Crafting Identity in Every Detail. To ensure perfection, the customer is responsible for providing accurate text, logos, and instructions.

  • Proofing: For custom orders, we may provide a digital proof. Once a proof is approved by the customer via email or digital signature, Cobb Custom Engraving is not responsible for errors present in the approved design (including typos or layout issues).

  • Colour & Material Variations: Laser engraving results may vary based on material density, grain, and composition (especially in wood and leather). These natural variations are not considered defects.

2. Intellectual Property

  • Your Designs: By submitting logos or artwork, you represent that you own the rights to that imagery or have obtained legal permission to use it. Cobb Custom Engraving reserves the right to refuse orders that infringe on trademarks or copyrights.

  • Our Work: We reserve the right to photograph and display finished products on our website and social media for promotional purposes unless a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) or prior written request for privacy is established.

3. Customer-Provided Materials

If you provide your own items for engraving (e.g., a family heirloom or specific hardware):

  • While we use industry-leading precision, laser engraving involves heat and mechanical processes. Cobb Custom Engraving is not liable for the replacement cost of customer-provided items in the rare event of machine malfunction or material failure.

  • Customers provide their own items at their own risk.

4. B2B & Wholesale Terms

For business-to-business orders, specific lead times and volume pricing will be outlined in a separate quote or invoice.

  • Payment: Large orders may require a non-refundable deposit before production begins.

  • Lead Times: While we strive for speed, quoted lead times are estimates and may be impacted by supply chain or shipping delays.

5. Limitation of Liability

Cobb Custom Engraving shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of our products or services. Our maximum liability is limited to the purchase price of the specific order in question.

Product Care & Maintenance Guide

At Cobb Custom Engraving, we use high-precision lasers to create permanent, beautiful designs. To ensure your custom piece remains a lasting part of your identity, please follow these material-specific care instructions.

Wood Products (Cutting Boards, Signs, Coasters)

Wood is a living material and needs a little hydration to stay vibrant

  • Hand Wash Only: Never put wood items in the dishwasher. Use mild soap and warm water.

  • Dry Immediately: Wipe off excess moisture and let the item air dry standing up to prevent warping.

  • Conditioning: For food-contact items like cutting boards, apply food-grade mineral oil or "board butter" once a month to keep the grain from drying out.

  • Avoid Heat: Do not store near stoves or in direct sunlight, as extreme heat can cause the wood to crack.

Glass & Crystal

Our engravings are physical abrasions into the glass, meaning they will never fade or peel.

  • Washing: Most engraved glassware is dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended to maintain the brilliance of the glass over time.

  • Avoid Abrasives: Do not use steel wool or harsh scouring pads on the engraved area.

Metal & Powder-Coated Tumblers

Whether it's stainless steel or a coated brand like Yeti or Stanley:

  • Powder-Coated Items: Hand wash to preserve the integrity of the outer color. High dishwasher heat can sometimes cause the coating to peel.

  • Stainless Steel: Clean with a soft cloth and non-abrasive cleaner. For raw metal engravings, a bit of stainless steel polish will keep it shining.

 Slate & Stone

Slate is durable but can be brittle if dropped

  • Cleaning: Wipe with a damp cloth. For deep cleaning, use a mild detergent.

  • Preserving the Dark Look: If your slate starts to look "ashy," you can rub a tiny drop of mineral oil over the surface to bring back the deep, dark contrast against the engraving.

 Leather & Leatherette

  • Moisture: Keep leather items dry. If they get wet, blot them with a dry cloth and let them air dry naturally.

  • Cleaning: Use a damp, soft cloth to wipe away dust. Avoid chemical cleaners that can break down the fibers or the adhesive on patches.
